wow............. look at all the hostility. i'm a bit surprised. anytime i've had questions about anything, the Jehovah's Witnesses were the only ones with the answers. And they never gave an opinion, it's always scriptural. I have KJV and I have used it with them. This really proves the scripture about how man will hate you on account of my name, or something like that.
And I wonder, what are they selling at the doors exactly? I've gotten all of the literature for free. This is a great testament to Jesus. He said take life's water free. So-called Christian churches are businesses. Even the preachers get paid to preach. Hypocrites!

I'm not afraid to talk to them. There are a few wonderful ladies that come to my house about once a month to talk to me about religion. I am not Jehovahs Witness, but I don't mind hearing their views on religion. I don't like talking to Jehovahs Witnesses who insist that their religion is the best and that my sole will not be saved if I do not convert.

I for one am not. In the past few months they have visited my house on a number of occasions. I greet them as I would anyone else. After they explain why they have come to visit me. I listen to them. Then politely explain I will look over the material they gave me. If I have any questions. I will call them at the number on the pamphlet.
On the first time they came. I even invited them in for further discussion. This because, I am curious about all religions. That being said.
I also informed them I practise my own religion(Baptist). Though I am open to discussion on the differences between the religions. The issues I have with their religion. The issues their Church might have with mine.
Discuss thing constructively without judging or making fun of one anothers religion.
I have always been taught not to cast judgement on another religion. I think the reason most people do as you state. Or at least are upset by people of the Jehovah's Faith. Is ignorance, biases and religious intolerance. Some people feel this is another person forcing their faith on the other. We need to stop being so judgemental of people of other faiths. Agree sometimes, to disagree. As far as the outreach programs of the various religions. If you are not interested. Be polite and courteous and say you are not interested. I think some people feel, this is invasion of their privacy. Or that there religion is less valid then their own. Maybe are even afraid of being instantly converted. Hogwash! Keep an open mind. Do on to others as you would have them do on to you. Peace!!! Love!!!

I'm not afraid, I just hate having other peoples oppinions shoved down my throat!

The last time I spoke to a Jehova Witness was when my brother was in intensive care following a car crash - their topic for the day - how modern medicine is against what they believe..... something along those lines anyway, with the door slamming shut I missed the end of it!

I do not think people are afraid of them.People just do not like to be bothered by their beliefs.I do not go to church but I was baptised as a christian. And I do believe in god.I just do not want to go to church because the people in church are the same as me and god will love me for who he made me to be.I do have a lady that is a mormon and she comes to my house at least once a month and we talk about god.She knows where I stand on the religious ideas. And she accepts that. She comes by and invites me to their special meetings. But the reason why I keep talking to her is because she is concerned about the world just like everyone else is.Plus she always asks how my family is doing and takes intrest. She doesnt push her religion on me.Not like a lot of people do.she gives me pamplets on Jesus.I take them and look at them. And if you look hard enough you will see their religion is just like everyone elses.Mormons now days believe in one marriage. In the old days and some still believe in the old ways that you can have more than one wife. But the new way does not allow that.Jehovah witness believes in the same beliefs as us but they do not give christmas gifts.Because they feel you celerbrate the lord but its not the time for gifts. They give their gifts all year long but not as presents. All religions are the same just some people do things a little different. There is no right or wrong religion as long as you know what god wants from you.

My sister-in-law is JW, so I have some knowledge of how they are trained by their cult leaders.

JWs are specifically trained to confuse those that they then try to influence. They spend a whole lot of time practicing in front of their leaders to perfect their argumentative skills. The group has been around long enough that they pretty much know what kinds of questions or issues are going to be raised when they can get someone to talk to them. They are very good at taking what you say & twisting it around in order to confuse you. Once they have you properly off-balance, they come across as being very reasonable & only wanting to help you. They seem altruistic, but they aren't; not really. Most of them are very nice themselves, but their cult demands so much of them & promises nothing.

My dad used to love it when the JWs would come to his door. He knew enough about their beliefs & the so-called bible that they use to argue with them; politely but firmly. He would pull out his own Bible the included the verses that are missing or mangled from the JW's. Finally, the local leaders put my dad's address on the do-not-visit-list.

I've never been afraid to talk to them, most of them seem like nice enough people, just a little lacking in scriptural understanding.

I usually try to have a debate with them, making it clear that I am interested in understanding their point of view. However as a Christian I make it clear that I do not agree with all their interpretations, backed up with my understanding of the Bible. For some reason they don't come back after a debate with me.

I am not sure exactlly but I think it's either becuase they aren't religious or because of public percpetion of Jehovahs Witnesses. Pretty much it's how the public "thinks" they are.
