You picked up your 8 week old puppy from her parents on Sunday and on Sunday she is diagnosed with Parvo. She is given a 50/50 chance. You called the people you bought her from and the former owners have informed you that they had to put the entire litter down as they all contracted it as well (though they had recieved their shots). She has refunded your money. What do you do? Would you put the puppy down or go for recovery?

Thats a hard one. I know someone that spent over 1000.00 curing a puppy. Not an easy call, but the dog is now very healthy.

this is up to you and what you can avoid.
yes parvo takes 7-10 days to show syoptoms.
talk to your vet as if you should not choose to save teh pup parvo will stay in teh house and environment where your now sick pup is for many years so ask about what to do if you decide to get another pup.

Best answer...lies within your heart. Not us. 50/50 chance is very generous. I personally hope you'll go to save a life. It could cost you upwardly as much as $600.00. Pick a good vet. Good luck to both of you.

DEFINITELY go for recovery. However, if the vet says she will be in pain and will probably not survive, it would be more humane to euthanize her. Unfortunately, sometimes euthanization is the humane way.

Definitely given it a chance you never know if it could have survived unless you try.
