My dog had a little of 7 puppies 8 days ago. I am quite worried about whether she has enought milk for 7 or not? Puppies are strong and grows fast, they don't cry a lot but sure sleep a lot.

Thanks for the answers. I guess the mother dog is doing great according to you guys. The puppies growing fast, they do not cry a lot. Even the runt is becoming stronger.
I got the milk and bottle from petland since the day they were born. But they refuse to drink from the bottle.

Make sure you feed the mother dog plenty of high quality food. The way to tell is by the weight and growth of the pups. If you are truly worried call your vet and ask. It can take about a day or so for the milk to come in fully. First there is colostrum. Mothers provide milk in response to the demand. You may need to watch and help the weaker pups. Puppies are born with a hierarchy of dominance. The stronger pups will get stronger yet by getting more to eat, nursing longer and pushing the weaker pups away. When a litter is so big, some pups generally die. They just aren't strong enough to make it. If you want to supplement the weaker pups' diet, check with your vet to find what is the best thing to give them. They have all had their colostrum from the mother dog, which gives them some immunity and is important. I think with eight pups, there should be plenty of mom's milk to go around. I wish you had said what breed the dogs are Good luck and have fun with them!

Hungry puppies cry. Chilled puppies cry. Sounds like your nursing mom is doing just fine. If your puppies are fine and continuing to gain weight, it is all because of mom's milk. The biggest drain on mom's milk supply begins when pups are 12 days old. By that time, mom should be eating 2 1/2 to 3 times her regular amount of food--spread out over 2-3 meals. That will ensure that she continues to produce adequate milk as the puppies demand increases.

If you have increased the food enough for the female and she is happy, she is probably producing enough milk. Also, if the puppies to not cry when she is with them, they are getting a healthy amount of milk. Don't worry about the sleeping part; young puppies sleep a LOT.

If the pups are growing and when you feel thier belly's and they are nice and round then they are fine. Crying pups are usually the ones you have to worry about, not if they are content and doing well. All pups sleep a great deal. Sounds like everything is just fine with your litter.
Glad to see your keeping an eye on everyone!
