Tomorrow morning Im getting an ultrasound on my liver at 9 am and I was told to fast from 12-9 am. Im having a hard time with this because:
1. I wake up early and lately Ive actually been having problems...waking up at 3 am this morning.
2. Im on a weight gain diet because Im underweight.
3. I wake up very thirsty/hungry
I have no idea what Im gonna do tomorrow. Especially if I wake up at 3 am like I did this morning. Do I really have to stop eating at 12 or like could I eat at 5 in the morning and it would be ok because it was 4 hours before the ultrasound...?
Should I stay up until 12 tonight and eat at 12? Im not sure if that will help because I usually end up waking up at the same time anyways...
Can somebody give me advice?

I am a heart patient and underweight. Take my advice - DO NOT BREAK YOUR FAST! If you do you will have to reschedule and do it all over again.

It is just for one night. You should be fine.

If I were you. I would stop eating by 12 (midnight). That is if you would like to get a good ultrasound done. The doctors told me that I was not suppose to eat past midnight. The next day I had to drink alot of water. I think that they told me I had to drink close to 3 cups of water prior to the ultrasound. Because if you do eat on the same day as your ultrasound. It will show it. That is the reason why they ask you not to eat on that day.

They just want your stomach to be empty on that day. So I know it will be tough for you. But I wish you the best of luck with this ultrasound.

It is very important that you do not eat or drink anything... It will mess up the test. It will prevent them from being able to see your organs correctly ... your body will be trying to digest your food and liquids, while they are trying to see what they need to see.. Dont do it . you will have to do it allll over again ... eat and drink as much as possible before 12.... 11:50 ... whatever ..

If your doctor said 12, it's 12.

Don't eat if they have told you not to. Follow the rules of the test or the results will not be of any use to you.

same answer as last post. don't waste the tech's time because you're selfish. if the test were important, you would follow the rules. call and cancel!
