They have the right to call the Bible a myth. You can't force anyone to respect something it doesnt work that way. If that offends you, work in other ways to change their mind. You will never be able to force belief in God and the Bible on another, they have to come to it on their own.

You broke the code! People who speak of the Bible as myth do *not* respect it, at least not in the way you do. They don't consider it God's Instruction Book.
Remember that what are called Greek and Egyptian "myths" were once complex theologies taken seriously by people who lived in the most advanced civilizations of their day. Some people don't believe in your God any more than they do in those Gods. And some people (I'm one of them) believe in those old Gods! I don't take offense at the term "myth", however. We don't really have concrete proof. Nobody does.
If people were to stop calling the Bible "myths," they would do it out of respect to you and other Christians' feelings, not to the Bible or your God. Be honest, please. *You* are offended because to you, that's not a set of myths, that's your means of understanding life and the world around you. If God's offended, I'm sure he'll show up to let us know.

Because they wish they knew God for themselves and they haven't reached that point where they know who God is. If they only knew the consequences in the end they wouldn't call it a myth. When the rapture comes and Christians vanish from all over the world and they're still here they are going to say I wish I wouldn't had called that book a myth and I would have tried to understand why people are so into it instead of criticizing them.

The bible is not a myth. It exists. It is the stories it contains which are myths. There are some very vague historical references, but also tales of people living to be 900. I think it speaks for itself.
And why should a person have any more respect towards that book than any other? There are far better books out there. You should go check one out.

Not being rude.
But if we went by that rule - then calling- Greek, Egyptian, Sumerian, Asian, and Tribal history- "Myths" would be considered extremely rude. At the time they lived (or even today) with those thoughts - it was considered very real. and the politics were also effected. Just like it is today.
I can see the relation.
Maybe the real question is - why are we so offended so easily?

Look up the defintion for myth. It fits the stories in the Bible. I dont see how it could possible be rude. Myths are stories told over time and doesn't mean they are true or false. Why dont you look up rude and respect when you find your dictionary.

I think they just don't want to believe in God because they think they have to give up up something they don't want to stop doing. It is amazing that if something is said often enough people start thinking it is fact; there is a lot of this with the Bible and faith. Check the facts out before believing just what you have heard.

The bible is a myth. Myth does not necessarily mean fiction. It is just the stories of a particular religion. You need to look the word up before you jump to conclusions.

Check out the meaning of a religious myth. It doen not mean that the Bible is false, not at all. It focuses you on the message that a particular stroy is trying to teach, and not on the specific details of the story.
(The person my be also saying that they do not believe in Biblical teachings. That is their right.)
