Sexual maturity comes before physical maturity because the second half of the growth phase requires the appropriate hormones to complete. Until adolescence, boys and girls are physically equal, with only minor differences in muscle tone, height, and athletic qualities. In order to properly direct bone, muscoskeletal, and muscular growth to accomodate the adult roles, the hormones must start to play their part. In the absence of these trait-defining sexual hormones, the body of either a male or a female would be indefinable, and inviable as a reproductive organism.

The nature of this timing has nothing to do with personal ethics, and females of all species are in fact capable of healthy pregnancies the moment their reproductive tract becomes active. The social implications and the demands for particular health needs at this age must be governed by the organism, not by the biological process.

they are more mature than you think at six months. my queen was eight months before she had her first season. if it is late in the year when they reach six months they won't come into season until the following spring. it is natures way of keeping the wild cat population at a sustainable level as most small cats wont make it in the wild and domesticated cats are still very wild at heart they have been with us as long as dogs.

Kittens as youthful as 4 months previous have been popular to reproduce and get pregnant. The adult males can initiate spraying after 5 months previous, yet able to breeding at 4 months. Get him neutered NOW. tom cat urine is next to impossible to eliminate from fabric/timber if he starts spraying. they could be neutered by utilizing 3-4 months previous (he's late for that trip to the vets)!
