It is common to have a surname mispronounced. People either dont really look at the spelling or if its not phonetically spelled they dont know how to say it.

Unless it's something simple like Smith, Jones, Washington, or Anderson...... you can expect people to butcher a name that is complicated or difficult to pronounce. Some people will realize that it may be pronounced several different ways and ask you how it is pronounced.

All the time. My maiden name is Helfter. It's usually pronounced Helfer, Helfner, or Hefner. It's because either they don't listen when your mom's family members are introduced to people, or people don't bother reading the name correctly. My married name is Fleeman, and EVERYONE says,"Freeman".

yes....its just how whoever is reading it see's it. Lots of peoples names are miss pronounced, hell even there first names.

people do that to my name too , it is spelled and pronounced different. just get used to it and corect people if they say it wrong, it is really not a big deal!

there is a famous actor with that last name and he uses the 1st pronunciation. my last name was authier and we say ah-theer but most people said arthur or ahthur. its annoying. but i can see how no one gets shayme out out cemi

the same reason why people pronounce my first name ty-me-koo instead of Ty-me-ka (Tymeku) seriously would you say coop instead of cup? how hard can it be!
