Conversations with God
describes just how i feel about many aspects of the afterlife and God
there are many books written by spirit guides though that are a must
and one written by Rev George Owen Vale which describes the afterlife in great detail
beyond the veil i believe it is called
but that is hard to get hold of though

My religion's Holy Book is the Bible.
If I have to exclude that, and other books by Christian authors (in the spirit of your question), then I'd want to have a good translation of the Qu'Ran with me if I were stranded on some desert island somewhere with nothing else to look to for guidance.

I'm sorry I can't exclude my Holy Book. The B.I.B.L.E., yes that's the book for me.

the restaurant at the end of the universe by douglas adams.
"your God person puts an apple tree in the garden and says do what you like but dont eat the apple. surprise surprise, they eat it and he leaps out from behind a bush and shouts gotcha. it wouldn't have mattered if they hadn't eaten it, because when your dealing with someone who has the sort of mentality witch likes to leave hats on the pavement with bricks under them you know perfectly well they won't give up. they'll get you in the end" - Ford Prefect
