Here are four, tried and true recipes for removing the skunk smell from your dog's fur.
Tip: You can also wash your clothes in these, but be warned that it may cause bleaching, of both your clothes AND your dog. Lightened fur has been reported frequently.
Please use care when washing your dog's face. These ingredients all have acidic properties and can cause painful eye irritation. If your dog's eyes are red and swollen, he may have been sprayed directly in the face, please contact your veterinarian about soothing eye drops available.

As a vet tech, I've seen this before. Your best bet is to bypass the groomer & take her to a vet's office. They can do a number of things to help you.. First and foremost, get her teeth cleaned. They will sedate her while they do this. They will completly clean her teeth which will take away a lot to most of the odor coming from her mouth. While she is under, they can also remove those mats. They are VERY painful to remove even at the groomers. If she's sedated, she doesn't feel anything so they can be a little more aggresive. They will comb her out extensively. Thrid, they can bathe her there after she's awake & put on advantage or k9advantix. They will instruct you to put it on every three weeks if your having severe problems & to reapply every time you bathe (these products are not waterproof or toxic so they can be re applied). They can also clean her anals & shave around that area. It will get rid of any irritation to her & keep fecal matter from accumulating. After all this, you can start a monthly maintenence with a groomer that will be less traumatic to her.

Try:
(1.) More Tomato Baths (" Never give up!")
(2.) Look for special dog shampoo
(3.) Ask vet
(4.) Put perfume on the dog ("My Aunt does.")
(5.) Don't give the dog so many baths that it's skin gets dry
GoodLuck!

My dog got sprayed and she felt so terrible! she was whining and shedding really bad. I actually found the best way to get the skunk smell off of her was to use laundry detergent.
Make sure that you rinse the dog really really good and get all the detergent out or she will itch.
It took the smell away almost immediately.

There are shampoos for this that you can buy at the pet store. Works better than the tomato juice process (which can also stain a light colored dog). Yuck - you have my sympathy.
