If you swallow gum, IT WILL NOT! STAY IN YOUR STOMACH FOR 7 YEARS! That is just a myth! Chewing gum will NOT get stuck in your stomac and it will cause no harm whatsoever! If you swallow gum, it will simply pass through the other side! No need to worry about anything!

Gum digests like any other food, not 7 years like we've all heard (it takes a couple days) it stays intact because the gum base doesn't break down like the other ingredients, the only way it's dangerous is swallowing large amounts, a normal size piece is fine, it's rare for a piece to get stuck in the intestines.

It's surprising that there are still people who believe the whole "It will say in your system for 7 years" nonsense.

The gum will pass through your system, with little of it's substance being digested. There are no magical properties to a stick of gum that make it hang around for seven years instead of simply passing through like a swallowed dime.

Yes, there isn't anything wrong with swallowing gum. Although it isn't recommended, there is nothing wrong with it.
It all goes through your digestive system and comes out within a while. (Not 7 years!) Don't worry. It's safe. The sorbitol in gum can cause diarrhea, so beware.

Swallowing gum in general is bad for you. It can get stuck in your stomach and mess up your system. I would NOT swallow any more. If you need to throw it outside in the woods. Animals can eat the gum, just not humans.

gum stays in your stomach for a LONG time when it gets there. one of my past teachers had to get her stomach opened up & the gum taken out because there was too much in there & her stomach wasn't able to work right. (she always swallowed her gum) so be careful! don't swallow any more.

You will most likely pass it but you should not swallow gum. It could get caught up in your digestive system.

Technically, it's not good to swallow any type of gum. But other than some sort of very mild indigestion or (diarrhea), its safe.
