The person says that they must get a Nigerian issued passport in order to fly. This does not ring true to me and I wanted to know if I might be caught in a scam.

US citizens require only a US passport. In fact, it would be illegal for a US citizen to have a Nigerian passport.

If that person is still experiencing problems leaving the country, then they should find the closest US consulate/embassy and get help.

Any time you deal with Nigeria you are bound to be set up by a scam! Sure hope you didn't give someone your US passport in order to get a Nigerian passport.

When you have a US passport, this is what it is a means of identifying you when you go to other countries and the way to get back into the US.

IF you gave your US passport to someone, get over to the Embassey in Nigeria IF that is where you are and report this immediately.

Sounds like a scam. If they have a US Passport, and they're in Nigeria, they got in the country o.k., why can't they leave the same way they came?

And what are you expected to do with someone who needs a Nigerian passport?
