If it's your first - it's like they have died and gone - BUT
take heart - they will be home when the clothes are dirty
or the money runs out

just make sure they get 'home' cooking when they come back

cherish the moments - they are growing up!

papa
all the best

chances are, it is breaking his heart too. I am sure he wants independence but he also wants support and wants to know that you are there. It is going to be incredibly difficult for you but this is part of life in our society. Let him know that you are going to miss him and are always there for him without telling him it is breaking your heart because then he will equate it with him breaking your heart and it will be more difficult for him.

Tell him your proud of him and you love him. Tell him that your tears are tears of joy because you wouldnt want to worry him. Its hard on him too! Also tell him that he made a good decision on going to college. Last you would want him to grow up and be successful in life

it's tough, but you've got to let him go. time for him to make his own life. I feel for you, though. not much else you can do I suppose.
