I have worked with children with autism for almost 10 years, and have done much research on this subject. I don't believe that vaccine causes autsim because I have worked with 2 children who were never given their shots because the parents thought there was some link, and yet these children got symptoms around 18 months, just like the others. Also Thermasol was removed from these shots a few years ago and yet the rise in autism continues.
When it came to getting my daughter the shots, I did think about it for a minute, but them thought about how I didn't want her to get any of the diseases that these shots protect against. With all the travel in and out of this country there has been an inrease in these diseases and I didn't want to risk the chance.

To be honest, I don't know. My son is autistic, and he had the triple vaccination. My daughter did too, and she is fine. I know most kids don't develop autism, but there could still be a link between the vaccine and the condition.
In my son's case, he had the jab at 12 months, which is quite early, but he even before that, he was a late developer, and was not babbling, or attempting to walk. I think the problem was there before the vaccine, to be honest. Obviously at that time I wasn't aware of it. I just thought he was a bit slower than my daughter in development.
So for me, there could be a possible link, but I think the signs were there before he ever got the jab. The fact remains that more and more cases of autism are emerging. There has to be something causing it. If not the vaccines, then what? It's the big question every parent would like to know.

my opinion: I do believe there is a link between autism and vaccines in some cases. Vaccines are full of neurotoxins that of course can cause brain damage. I do think that some children have a predisposition to autism meaning that they are fine until something enters their body and brain damage occurs resulting in autism, ADD, and ADHD. 20 yrs ago there was about 8 vaccines given to a child under age one and now there is over 22 given and with the rise of vaccinations there has been a significant rise in autism, ADD, ADHD, cancer, autoimmune disease and disorder and so on. I am aware that a strong and healthy immune system is essential to fighting almost all diseases and viruses and through vaccinating infants some cells that are developing the immune system further are destroyed and gone for good, and these cells are essential for the immune system to be able to fight diseases, cancers, and viruses. I have been educating myself on vaccines to be able to have an informed opinion and make informed decisions regarding my children's immunizations.

the mmr diseases are on the increase because people are scared to vacccinate, so your child has a higher chance of being affected by these than by autism. the guy who made the claim of the link later back tracked and said he made a mistake. in oz they have had no such scare and they have a continued rise in vaccinations. also when a child has the mmr vaccine it is a time when autism can be more easily be detected, also techniques at detcting autism have improved so naturally the people diagnosed with it will increase. i had the same dilemma until we had a mumps outbreak in our area which can leave boys infertile, so i had the vaccine given to him once i had found out the above information. hope that helps you. there is no right or wrong answer, good luck

I think it is hysteria over the perceived increasing numbers of autism. I would not put my child or the community at risk by not vaccinating--There is nothing besides anecdotal stories to link the two.
I do believe the rise in autism is due to better child health care, more types of behaviors classified as autism and more awareness in the greater community. Years ago, some of these kids were misdiagnosed and institutionalized.
If you are really very concerned, express your concerns to your pediatrician. Be very careful of those who purport to state a causal link between the two--none has been suggested in reputable medical studies.

I believe that there were issues and that they have worked them out....however I do have a child that did get the vaccines in 1992 and believe me when I say he has had issues that we have had to work with. He is a great kid and what he has been through is very trying, however I wonder also what could have happened if he didn't get the vaccines?
Pro's and Cons to everything, hard for a parent that only wants to protect their child and then something like this happens.....I remember saying "It will only hurt for a moment and protect you for a life time.."
I still believe this however I also believe they did hurt my child.
best wishes

Why was it that the numbers skyrocketed in the last decade? I really hope you will look beyond this forum for info.. Call any chiropractor and they can give you the names of some good books to read...There used to be one in many thousands, and now it is hundreds! Usually, most of them start out at birth like that, and now they just "develope" symptoms, right after shots!

i dont think there is one and even if there is id rather my child had autism to the things they vacinated him against. If there is one the chances of getting it will be minimal so i just look at the pros and cons and weigh them up.

I think you have to weigh up the pros and cons, do you give your child protection against numerous diseases or expose them to them? I let my daughter have hers and shes fine
