Keep telling him what you have been telling him. Maybe he'll get tired of hearing about it from you and finally go.

I don't think there's a diplomatic way to suggest to someone to see a dentist because he or she has bad breath. It's not a pleasant experience for the person who has to be a target of this halitosis. I would probably just come out and tell the person that for the sake of his health and the people that get close to him, that he must see a dentist, or suffer the consequences, which will be ill health and unpopularity. You may hurt his feelings, but just consider it "tough love".

I can tell you one thing that might help get him to the dentist a little faster. Problems with his gums can lead to heart problems. Infections in the gumline can cause him to be septic (bacteria in the blood) and be hospitalized for weeks/months and, if not caught in time, his ultimate death. This includes abscesses. Keep in mind as to how close your mouth is in relation to the all-important brain and central nervous system. Being septic affects the nervous system, sometimes causing altered mental status, fever and other symptoms. This guy needs to have his neck rung because he is obviously oblivious as to what he is doing to himself. If nothing else, then at least one thing is ruled-out and he can be referred to the next doc that he needs to see. He may have chronic halitosis (spelling?) or bad breath. If he happens to read this: Imagine what your life is going to be like without your natural teeth. Imagine having to learn to eat all over again. My husband did and all I could do is sit back and watch him suffer. There was nothing I could for him. I slept beside of him on a couch for four days after his major surgery (14 teeth at once). Dentures are not fun my friend. And imagine how your friend feels about sitting back and letting you do this to yourself. Also, depending on your age and the girl, imagine your dentures falling out of your mouth at dinner on your next date. Imagine trying to tell a girl that you have false teeth. A lot of girls this day and time dont go for it. My husband was scared to death that I would leave him, but I could never leave him. Today, he has four natural teeth in his mouth. Even if he does not read this, maybe asking the questions will wake him up. Hope this helps and good luck.

Wow, If it's your boy friend i suggest a new one if he does not go to the dentist ASAP. Do you think he's scared to go to the dentist? Is it a money thing keeping him away? Start caring around breath mints and each time he starts to speak to you hand him a breath mint and tell him he has to eat it to talk with you. Maybe he'll start to think about it more and see a specialist. Good luck.

If he's a good friend, tell him you'll go w/him if he's nervous. If he's a bf or hubby, book the appt and both of you go together. He's prob scared of the dentist. Tell him you're worried about him. And that a quick appt can put his and your mind at ease. Tell him you love him and will be with him through the entire process if he's scared. Good luck! =)

Aside from making the appointment yourself and telling him a story to get him to go AND going with him, you've already suggested he visit the dentist. You can't very well bring the dentist to him.
If he won't go - there's not a thing you can do - I assume he's an adult!

just sit him down and tell him how much you care about his health. show pictures, maybe that will scare him into it. or if you're looking for a softer approach get his dentist to give him a call and talk to him. it just takes persistence. also admitting it is the first step.

Tell him to go to the doctor. If he thinks its his stomach, tell him that it isnt supposed to smell like that and he needs to be seen. The doctor can check him out and tell him to go to the dentist.

If he insists it is coming from his lungs, ask him if he's been checked for TB. That makes people's lungs smell like death!!
I don't know how you know this person...just drop little traveller packs of mouthwash on their desk, cubicle, office, whatever.
Tell him this new dental hygenist is freakin' HOT and he's gotta go check her out. That might work better, I don't know the person.

yes bad breathe is caused by gum disease, not brushing teeth brushing his ton regularly, may not be gum disease at all..he could use listerine:)nobody could make someone go to the dentist...and that sucks i know..it is impossible that its coming from his stomache or lungs..you are right to tell him to go to the dentist.bad gums Can lead to him loosing his teeth one day and living at the dentist because he will need constant reajustments of his dentures...no its not fun its painful..people dont relise that...well good luck to you..
