Yep, sure have - all of those symptoms, too! Wine, especially red wine, contains histamine, which provoke a reaction in your body, just like any other allergen - pollen, weed, dust, fur, etc. Your body may learn to tolerate the histamine and future reactions may be a thing of the past or not as severe OR you may need to give up the grape altogether. It is NOT wise to take an antihistamine before, during or after consumption of any alcohol.

Pay attention to exactly what kind of red wine that does this. You may be allergic to the "tannins" - it is fairly common.
It does sound like a slight allergic reaction.
Try organic red wine.
Do you have the same problem with white?

People can develop a sensitivity to most any substance. However, I have heard that red wine can trigger attacks of migraine headaches. The only way to be sure that wine is the culprit, is to see your doctor. If you are sensitive to red wine that brings on headaches, you might also eliminate cheese and chocolate from your diet -- sorry, if you love these things, but they are also migraine reactors.

Usually this is an allergic reaction to the sulfites. Sulfites are used to rinse wine barrels after they are drained - it kills molds and fungi, but a trace of them remains in the next batch of wine. Try organic wine (available at Whole Foods Market) and see if you have the same reaction. If you do, switch to white wine and see if this improves things.

It depends on type. If it has strawberrie and you are allergic to strawberry then yes you can. but i would hold on to the wine. if it happens again you will need to take a sample of the wine to the docotr to have them test it to see if it does have allergents in it. you may want to have a blood test also to see what types of allergies you get. food allergies can be very dangerous.

Asthma, during my teens I was diagnosed as asthmatic, somehow I grew out of it in my teens.
When I drink heavy reds such as Pinot Noir, I wheeze and have discomfort breathing. Its the tannins, natural but potent allergic reaction.

I agree with #4. I get the same thing myself, normally from cheaper brands (like in a box). I believe it is the sulfites.
