My twin daughters were the pickiest lunch eaters ever. I couldn't understand why they would eat a sandwich. I did the following:
-Ritz crackers with some rolled up lunch meat (turkey, cheese, roastbeef w/e you would put into a sandwich), tuna fish, chicken salad or egg salad. Sometimes they'd eat them in a wrap, have you tried that?
-the night before i would cook some plain noodles and stick in in the fridge. In the morning I would put some kind of dressing on it, put it into a container (pasta salad)
-i cut up carrots, celery, and got cherry tomatoes and sent them with some dressing
-bagels with butter or cream cheese
-cold pizza
-i use to by this big bag of chicken cutlets, they were REALLY cheap, make those and send them with that all ready cut up
if you don't like any of these ideas, he'll be ok with some cheese, yogurt and fruit. It's hard to find something they'll eat.
Best wishes and good luck!

I have a 5-year-old who does not like sandwiches, either.
This year for kindergarten, I packed a few different things for her. I would put in a small container of peanut butter with crackers and she'd dip the crackers into the peanut butter for her lunch.
Yogurt and string cheese together IS a good "main dish." My daughter eats that along with a piece of fruit a lot.
My daughter will also take a slice of cheese with yogurt for her "main dish."
She also enjoys leftover chicken cutlets cut up. She eats them cold and I give her a small packet of ketchup (from a take-out place, I just save them) to eat with it.
My daughter will also eat a slice of turkey with her cheese and fruit. All of these combinations are good choices!
I hope this helps!

what part of the sandwich does he not like? You could make your own luchables as other people have said... a pack of crackers or something and cheese and meat of his choice. Cold choices are hard. Hot dogs should be ok and maybe hamburger would survive if you dind't put mayo on it... You woudn't necessarily have to provide a main dish every day.... all those things you mentiones would surly fill him up! Hope this helped! God bless!

Actually had the same problem but it was my son who did not like school lunches. My son would not eat bread even if was the last thing on earth. Try these things!
Tuna fish or egg salad on crackers
Boil eggs and cheese
Bagel and cream cheese
Lunch box sushi
(take a tortillas and spread either mayo or mustard and if you using as a fruit thing spread yogurt instead. then take your fave lunchmeat or fruit and put it on the tortillas roll it up and then cut into slices and there you have it. I even used peanut butter, fluff for the spread and bananas. You can get creative with that one!!)

Tell him that you can not afford lunchables all the time, so if he does not eat his sandwiches, then he is out of luck for a main dish in his lunch. Or you could do what others suggested, put together your own little lunchables. Just put some crackers, meat and cheese in there with a juice box.

I was very picky as a little kid and was on a very tight budget. If he likes lunchables but they are too expensive, you can buy a box of crackers some lunch meat and cheese and put them together yourself. It is a lot cheaper and you can make it as long as supplies last. Other than that, snack food is all I can think of. My mother used to put soups and things like that in thermoses but it is kind of hott for that this season.

It really yummy!
1 can (6.5 oz.) water-packed white tuna, drained
1 small carrot, shredded
1/4 cup finely chopped celery
1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper
1/2 Tbsp. dried chives or chervil
2-4 Tbsp. nonfat mayonnaise
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
4 8-inch flour tortillas
4 Tbsp. nonfat cream cheese
4 well-dried leaves of leafy green lettuce
slightly smaller than a tortilla
1/2 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
4 sprigs fresh mint, cilantro or flat-leaf parsley
1. In small bowl, combine tuna, carrot, celery, green pepper, chives and enough mayonnaise to make a moist (but not wet) salad. Add salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.
2. On each tortilla, spread a thin layer of cream cheese (about 1 tablespoon) across the center two-thirds of tortilla's surface, leaving a 2-inch margin along edges. Center 1 lettuce leaf on top of each tortilla. Press leaf into cream cheese. Spread a quarter of the tuna salad firmly over each lettuce leaf, leaving a 2-inch margin at top and bottom of each tortilla. Sprinkle a quarter of cheese over each tortilla and top with a sprig of fresh mint or other fresh herb.
3. Fold the bottom of the tortilla up to cover the top of the filling. Fold in the two sides a quarter-inch. Roll tortilla up, holding side folds in. Roll wraps tightly and as firmly as possible to ensure packets stays closed. Tightly seal each in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve or pack. Wraps made without wet ingredients can keep for 24 hours or more without getting soggy.
Makes 4 wraps. Per wrap: 238 calories, 6 g. fat (3 g. saturated fat), 24 g. carbohydrate, 20 g. protein, 2 g. dietary fiber, 534 mg. sodium.
