looking for a website that might help me to understand the laws around grandparents rights. i am wondering if a particular set in our family could actually win a visitation schedule for a child they have rarely seen. please give me any idea where to start. thanks.

call your local State's Attorney. Start there. They should be able to at least guide you in the right direction.

I know that very few states give any consideration to the grandparents rights to visitation. It may depend on the state and always depends on the circumstances. For example if the parents fail to adequately support the child or some type of abuse is going on.Then the courts may have the grandparents be a child's guardian ad lit-em,which means that they can remove the child if anything inappropriate occurs.

Depends on the state. Most states do have grandparent visitation and you do have to file a petition to see the child/ren.

Google the name of your state and the words "grandparent rights" in quotes. A site will probably come up!

well it all depends on what state that you live in if you have grandparents rights. Tennesee does not. You need to call an attorney.
