First you want the rig to be about two feet away from the tip of the rod. That way you could swing the rig and get momentum on the cast. One you have done that, use your index finger to push the line back to the rod, flip open the bail, then move the back of the rod from over your shoulder to in front you. Also you release your index finger just before the fishing is parallel to your shoulder as you move the rod to cast out.

Leave about a foot or more line hanging from the end of rod.
Hold line with forefinger.
Flip bail by hand or trigger to open position,
Cast line out either sidearm, overhead or underhand.
Flip bail closed by hand, not by reeling (this helps reduce line twist).
Start reeling.
Set the hook when you get bit.
