My learner's permit expires in a couple of months, and I really need to get my license. How long is the road test at the DMV and for anyone that has taken it, what all did you have to do?

It varies from state to state and probably even DMV office to office, but they usually run about 15 to 20 minutes. You have to parallel park successfully, they like you to check your rear mirror when you get in and to buckle your seat belts and tell the examiner to buckle up, they like you to use your signal indicator when you pull away from the curb and to show when you are going to park, and for all turns, they want you to give pedestrians the right of way and to stop at or behind the limit lines, hold to speed limits or whatever the safe speed is, they want you to be confident and capable and careful. Dress nice, no cigarettes, no gum, be polite.

Here in Ga, it only took about 15 minutes once you got into the car with the grader. I had to go through a few stop signs and make a few turns useing my blinker. Then I had to parallel park and dodge some cones. My test was about 4 years ago though and now I hear that the test is actually over the road, so it wont be much different than when you drive with your permit. Just be sure to wear your seat belt and ask him/her to if they dont when they get in. Take a deep breath and itll all be ok!

Well the actual driving is about 10-20 mins long, and just be relaxed and make sure you know everything in the car, the switches, the buttons, cause they will ask you "were is the emergency lights?" and what does this do? type of questions...
Make sure when you change lanes or go reverse to look in the mirrors and even turn back to see that everything clear... I lost points cause of that! Good Luck!

Mine took a total of 10 minutes at most. It's an easy-in, easy-out method. After you're done, the instructor just moves on to the next person. It is fairly quick and simple. Either you pass or you don't. Hope this helps! Best wishes!!!

there really is no time limit. pretty much once you finish each task, or if you fail before you finish. turn on lights, blinkers, and windshield wipers. three point turn, parking on a hill, parallel parking, backing up in a straight line, judge how well you do driving out on the main road, pulling out into traffic... all the while the instructor is watching for your signals and stops.
