Stephen was the first martyr, He was stoned in Acts chapter 6, I believe. James was the first of the disciples to be killed for His faith. He was beheaded. Ten of the Eleven Apostles (excluding Judas Iscariot) were martyred and the Roman Emperor tried to kill John the Beloved by boiling Him in oil, but was unsuccessful and John died naturally

That would be Stephen.
He was martyred in about 34-35 A.D., approximately. Perhaps a bit earlier.

Stephen was the first martyr for his faith in Jesus. His testimony was in part responsible for the conversion of Saul of Tarsus to Paul the apostle. You can read about it in the Book of Acts.

Stephen
But Stephen, filled by the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven. He saw God’s glory, with Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and he said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” Then they screamed at the top of their voices, stopped their ears, and rushed together against him. They threw him out of the city and began to stone him. And the witnesses laid their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul. They were stoning Stephen as he called out: “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin!” And saying this, he fell asleep.

Stephen was ironically stoned to death by Saul, later Paul. Read Acts.
