Contact the Kennel Club and ask them for a list of Basset Hound breeders in your area. You will probably find that a lot of breeders have young stock that they will sell you.
Good luck with your new dog!!

Try a rescue group or the local pound. They're throwing away perfectly good dogs. If you're set on a basset hound, try the local breed specific rescue group. Breeders are evil.

DONT BUY FROM A PET STORE! There messed up little mill dogs!! You can always try rescuing one from the pound! But I dont think youll find a purebred Basset there. If you want to spend $450-1000 on a purebred try a breeder near you. :-D

Alternatively if you really want a well-bred puppy, speak to the breed clubs (Contact Details at the bottom of the "kennel club link) .
Don't touch newspaper/magazine ads or e-pupz or any other site that tries to sell dogs over the internet - that tends to be where puppymillers and backyard breeders sell their dogs, rarely with any health or temperament testing. You could be storing up more trouble than it's worth.
Good luck.

look at your local animal shelter. if they don't have any then check some websites of dog breeders that breed basset hounds.
go to http://www.puppyfind.com
then where it says enter breed put in basset hound. then click on puppies for sale. hope i could help. wish best of luck. :)

go to rspca kennels and rescue a dog. you will save a dog from the pound, it will be spayed or neutered already .will cost less than a £100.
dont buy from a pet shop, a puppy farm breeder or somewhere where you cant view the parents together, or someone breeding more than 1 dog, these are all in it for the money and force dogs to have litter after litter and never enjoy life.
kennel club dogs tend to more over bred, prone to illness and thus bigger vet bills and pet insurance, a sturdy mongrel or no specialist bred hound will be fine.

Absolutely rescue your dog. For every dog bought from a breeder, one in a shelter is euthanized because of one less home. 25% of dogs in shelters are purebreds. Or try a purebred rescue group.
