Yelling at a 4mo old pup is useless. You need to learn how to train the pup. You don't like your dad yelling at you. Same way, the dog doesn't like you yelling at it and it doesn't have the ability to understand what you don't like. From where the dog sits, you hate it and it wants to please you and is confused and upset by how you act.

When the dog barks at something you can recognize, and it's ok to bark at (some things the dog SHOULD bark at), you should tell it in a cheerful, strong voice "GOOD bark". When it barks at a person, you can tell it in a strong voice (NOT yelling) "BAD bark" and flick it with 2 quick fingers to the nose. OR... you may want to try the suggestion of spraying with a water bottle. That does work for some dogs. Another command you need to learn is "Enough". You let the dog bark some and then tell it, "Enough" so it learns to stop barking on your command.

You need to get some books and/or videos on training your dog. Below is a link to one of the companies that specializes in dog training.

Yelling won't help. put him on a leash and every time he barks give it a yank and soon he will associate the barks with a yank. If you put a really short leash on him or even a short rope tied to the collar it will always be there to grab when necessary. This will take commitment so you have to spend a good amount of time with him to do this. You should also consider obedience training. You and your pup will learn how to train together.

If you don's stop him, he won't grow out of it.

A squirt bottle and a loud but not shouted NO will generally get through if the dog is somewhat intelligent.

As for your slippers, put them up at night or when you're not wearing them. If it keeps getting them, put chili pepper power on them where it normally chews...it will end quickly.
