Many sources site 33 A.D. as the birth of the Catholic Church. It is supposedly the actual year Jesus died.
That doesn't mean that the church was born when Gaius Cassius opened the side of our Lord with his lance.
The Catholic Church celebrates her birthday at Pentecost. Meaning, the Holy Spirit gave birth to the church.
The first Pentecost of the bible is the birth of the "universal church." Catholic means universal.
Here is a fairly good timeline. Although 20's is a bit too early. The Gregorian calendar was certainly miscalculated. Most agree to 33AD not 20AD.

To all of those who say the Catholic Church was founded by Constantine - you really need to stop believing every lie you're told.
Constantine only legalized a church that already existed. Albeit underground. The text for the Council of Nicea is online. You should read it.
A short article from Columbia University might help.

Try reading the writings of Justin the Martyr. Some 200 years before Constantine was even born.

Justin the Martyr

You'll find the First Apology letter very interesting. The Catholic Church was already in full force.
Also Polycarp who learned directly from the Apostle John

Please notice that none of these sites are Catholic. So you can't say any of this has a Catholic spin on it. It's all purely historical.

The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church of Christ was conceived when Jesus was incarnate in the womb of the Virgin Mary and was" born " triply in the Trinity at the Last Supper, the first Eucharist and Ordination,by the will of the Father ,the Word of Christ the Incarnate Word and the action of the Holy Spirit. The Church was also 'born" from the side of Christ at His Crucifixion when He gave His life for His Church. The Church was also 'born" and "chrismated and sealed" at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came down in Power to equip the apostles and disciples to spread the Gift.
The Church was commissioned when Jesus told Peter he and his office would be the Rock on which the One United and Universal( which Catholic means)Church would be built upon. The Catholic character was was underlined at the Council of Jerusalem in Acts when the Church was shown to be for all nations, races and cultures and not just a Jewish apocalyptic sect. That Council, the pattern of all Ecumenical Councils, also showed that the Church would unfold over the centuries as it faces the challenges of each age and behavior.
The Catholic Church has been around since Jesus and will be here until He returns. Its "start "is renewed every time someone is baptized or receives Communion in Grace or is confirmed or fittingly ordained or enters Christian marriage rightly or acts in cooperation with Grace. Come, Holy Ghost!

Acts 11:26 states: It was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.
Does this mean that there were no Christians before the disciples went to Antioch. No, all of the Apostles and disciples were Christians from the moment they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior even if the word was not used yet.
In fact, the Blessed Virgin Mary was the first Christian when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while he was still in her womb.
That said:
The Catholic Church started about 33 AD on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles even though the early church was not called Catholic until about 107 AD.
The Church has referred to itself as the “Catholic Church” at least since 107 AD (about 10 years after the last book of the New Testament was written), when the term appears in the Letter of St. Ignatius of Antioch to the Smyrnaeans:
"Wherever the bishop appear, there let the multitude be; even as wherever Christ Jesus is, there is the Catholic Church."
http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/text/ignatius-smyrnaeans-hoole.html
We do not know how long they had been using the term "Catholic" before it was included in this rare surviving letter.
All of this was long before the Council of Nicea and the Nicene Creed from 325 A.D. which states, "We believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church."
With love in Christ.

Officially, it was founded by Jesus, that's what they put it down as. He only did ministry in the last three years or so of his life, and it was continued by his apostles soon after he died - when it actually became the "church". So i think AD 33 is probably about right. I know it's not the most reliable of sources, but try

Bishop Thomas started the Roman Catholic church in 872. That is why all of the miracles, the shroud of Turin, the pieces of the true cross, came out about that time. They invented it all.
