It seems quite popular in the Hispanic community...

Do you think it is blasphemy?

Thoughts?

I don't think it's that much blasphemy (although it depends on your point of view), as more leaving your kid wide open to relentless bullying...

No I don't think its blasphemy, hispanics use it a lot as you say, and God should be proud that some one else likes the name so much they want to follow his good taste by naming their baby Jesus.

But I mean lets face it ......its not a brilliant name there are not many who would choose it.....he could have used Thomas or Alfie or something

I love the Lord, am a LDS woman, and would like to name my baby baby Jesus.
(Wait, she wants to call him "Baby Jesus"? How will that work after he's 33?)

My husband says this is ridiculous because we are not latino and he does not even go to church anymore. I looked and it is a popular name in the US so it must be that others like me are out there spreading His love. His full name would be "Jesus Joseph Dewey". Can any one tell me if when you are at the hospital can you refuse to let your husband have a say in what the birth certificate says? I 18 years old and am a first time mom.

Issue 1: Jesus! (Praise the Lord!) Joseph! (Hallelujah!) Dewey. (.....um.....He's a duck, right?)

Issue 2: Have you ever heard anything so romantic, and yet so filled with Our Heavenly Father's purest love alighting from heaven to his children upon the earth as an 18 year old Mormon girl wanting to have her husband barred from the hospital where she's just given birth so she can name their child Jesus. Joseph. Dewey. Amen.

That's bull ****, Why would you want to research child porn in the first place and what normal person would, it's sick. It doesn't need to be researched as we all know it's there. It's just a lame excuse because they got caught. You would have to be a very sick minded, perverted ******* prick to look at horrific pictures of innocent young children and no normal person would do it. I think they should bring castration back in for pricks like that. And your right if it was for research the police etc should've been told but wether they were told or not it still doesn't justify doing it

Whats the difference between a son named Jesus and a girl named Mary?

Considering that His name was NOT Jesus, since Jesus is simply an Anglicized version of His Hebrew name, no; it's not blasphemy.
Remember, He was Hebrew. He spoke Hebrew. He had a Hebrew name.
The letter "J" didn't even exist until the 16th century.

Half the men in Mexico are named Jesus. I don't see any big deal about it. I think people would have more of a problem if you named him God. That might turn a few heads. But isn't it interesting that people consider Jesus to be God, yet you can name a child Jesus and can't name it God.

Even when Jesus Christ was born, the name "Jesus" was quite popular back then as well. It didn't become associated with Jesus Christ until His ministry. That's why He is mostly referred to in the Bible as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ or Jesus the Messiah. So, if people want to continue to name their children Jesus, that's their perogative. Jesus Christ didn't copyright it, lol.

It's okay to question who gave Jesus the name Jesus. After all, Jesus was a Jew. How many Jews do you know who have ever had the name Jesus before or after he was born? None.

It's not blasphemy it just creates an awkward situation for your child whenever he meets new people. Like there was a guy answering a question earlier who's name was "Christ" pronounced: krist ( like crisp). i'm sure he gets tired of explaining that to everyone.
