Yes, I'm mixed too and I have used http://www.anitagrant.com whipped butter on my curly hair it works really good on my curls - that and the company's organic sapote with coconut pomade both work for me. Not greasy or sticky at all.
I'm a guy so I don't like complicated routines 2-3 products max that's it. (call it laziness or whatever).
A little of that butter goes a long long way when you do try it only use a little on slightly wet curls.
For a touch up I just run my hands underneath the tap in the bathroom for 30 seconds, flick the excess water off and run my fingers through my curls - the whipped butter re-activates the definition & the soft feel lasts forever.
All natural products work best on my naturally curly hair.
Hope you find this helpful.

I can not stop raving about the natural & organic products from http://www.anitagrant.com - they smell great & work well but the bonus is they are all natural. No silicones, no EDTA, no synthetic preservatives just pure natural ingredients.
I am of mixed parentage as well, my hair is very Afro curly whereas my brother has tight curly ringlets with a Caucasian texture. We both use Whipped Butter - a little goes a long way and I've noticed that even Caucasian curly haired women use Anita Grant's products too.
Here's a link to a blogger's entry about using Anita Grant Whipped Butter http://expatsinitaly.com/annika/?p=500#comments
Comment number 15 she tells her readers how she uses the Whipped Butter and there is a picture at the top of how the blogger's wavy hair looks.
My brother usually wets his hair a little first to get the curls activated, takes a little finger full of Whipped Butter, rubs it in his palms and distributes it through his curls.
His hair is always shiny and his curls just pop out the definition. It stays like this until he washes his hair - so all he has to do is lightly wet his hair with water the next day and it's all defined & popping with shiny curls again. Which is great for me because that means he uses less of my Whipped Butter (I got to buy him a jar of his own :¬) )
Whipped Butter isn't greasy at all - a little will honestly go a long way! Plus the definition will last a long time.

I think it's a little misleading for some advertisers to believe that all people of color have the same hair texture. Although I am not mixed, I have VERY curly and kinky hair. Hair that when soaking wet, looks cute, but when allowed to dry becomes this hard mattted mess! Even though you are mixed, you'll find that your troubles are those of many people of color, mixed or not. My hair is not like mother's, and her hair is not like her mother's. With that said, I'd recommend you visit two sites. One is missjessies.com...read up about her curly pudding and curly buttercream. Second is www.curls.biz. Both companies cater to people of color, and were created by women who have mixed heritage. You can also try carol's daughter hair milk.

Fes; You mentioned that you are mixed, regular hair oil may not be for your hair. Try a hair gel for Caucasian hair
might not work so don't go overboard with the price.

Try John Freida's Frizz-Ease. This helps control frizz and eases the curl into a gentler shape that will last until your hair gets wet---or until it get really humid outside.
