Billions of dollars invested and donated every year for Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Alzheimer’s, etc....... and yet nothing. The last time any good has come was a polio vaccine some hundred years ago. But nothing since? Come on....... At least lie to me so I will continue giving money. But seriously, it seems that modern science has done nothing in terms of disease and illness. The future looks horrible, I feel sorry for my children.

Science makes discoveries all the time to help advance medicine. How about antibiotics or more recently how about the protease inhibitors for HIV to name a few? It is not usually one big discovery but rather many small discoveries that add up to a great discovery. I think you have an uninformed viewpoint and should read a little more about the drug discovery process. It is definitely not as simple as it sounds.

Wow... did you kno that mice have been discovered to be the most promising hope for stem cell culturing and use in humans and this was discovered a month ago? In fact they have recently cured a group of children of lukemia with stem cells! And actually, they have just found a way to predict alzheimers. If these are not medical advancements I don't know what is... I have a biology degree and am almost offended that you feel that way. Was my education and dedication to science all for nothing?

Fully functional prosthetic limbs? The artificial heart? Organ transplants? Radiation and chemotherapy? The eradication of smallpox?

I could go on. There have been thousands of medical discoveries over the past century.

Oh, and the polio vaccine was developed in 1955.

I'm pretty sure that they are making discoveries pretty often...I don't think that cancer treatment was this good 100 years ago. Personally I've been on allot of great new medications because one of my specialty doctors for one of the conditions u mentioned is very up to date.

There's NO money in cures. The money is in the medicine. Pharmaceutical company's make billions each year selling med's. If there's a cure, there will be no need for the med's which in turn, equals no money. It's what the world is all about MONEY!
