What are you thinking? I am not crazy about the whole thing about illlegal immigration but how many legal immigrants or Americans have you seen working the fields. This is a FACT.. As soon as any illegal immigrant gets his legal papers he looks for a better job and leaves the fields THE NEXT DAY. There is no reason to work the fields if you got papers. Sorry for all of you naive people out there....We need illegal immigrants.

Before the were called illegals they were, Mexicans, Braceros, Americans, Spanish, Workers. Anything but illegals, they are the same people.

Who worked the fields before the immigrants? (Illegal Immigrants that is)
Mostly Black people...they just were called illegals..BUT if you look at it they had no rights just like the illegals have no rights today. They may not be slaves today but they still work like slaves did back then.
Show me one american that works the fields today!!!

They are in every aspect of the work force not just the fields. We do no need them as all they do is drive down wages. I for one have worked in the fields when I was younger and I work in a factory now. They were just raided and got 68 illegals. Those jobs are now filled by citizens who were having trouble getting hired before.

An estimated 300,000 illegals in L.A. live in garages. And the F.B.I. states that half the gang members in Ca. are illegal immigrants.
Besides all this, the average wage to pick, for instance lettuce, is $12 per hour. If you tripled that wage to $36 per hour, the price of a head of lettuce only goes up by about $.05 at the market. Trust me, legal Americans would be lining up around the block for a job like that.

Hey Zapata...ever wonder who did these same jobs before the flood of illegal immigrants? Hmmmm....no answer...let me give it to ya...legal citizens did those jobs. No? Hmmm...then I wonder how they got done. They leave for a better job once they get their papers? I beg to differ. An individual in the United States without an education is destin to continue working such jobs. An individual in the United States without an education has no other skills. Nice try.

I don't see how Americans (or most people of any Western country e.g. the UK) can complain about immigration seeing as an ancestor of theirs probably immigrated to America in the first place, unless you're a Native American, who form a distinct minority. Anti immigration is pro hypocrisy.

If they werent there then the farmers would just be forced by Legal citizens and workers to pay a respectable wage. Labor would have power again.
Moreover, that pay increase would be passed up the line to Big Business who is the one entity other than the illegals making a big push to keep them.

Many have moved past the fields and are now in construction and factory production, hmmmmm sound familiar? maybe they are looking for a better wage? kind of like the much maligned US worker.
As for the field workers:
"Farmers across the West for years have complained about a labor shortage to harvest their fruits, vegetables and other crops. Critics have always discounted those claims, saying farmers who pay higher wages have plenty of help."

Fist, Americans did those jobs BEFORE illegals took the jobs away.
Second, Illegals DON'T GET PAPERS. They rather demand amnesty and complain how they are "mistreated".
