Well a few weeks ago my husband, I and our 5 children went out to dinner. An older man we didn't know paid our bill. According to our waitress, he does that every now and then just to be nice. We were astonished! That was a great (and expensive) act of kindness that we will never forget.

Well, some of the obvious ones are to just say hello to people, hold the door when needed, ask someone if they need a hand when you see them studying the schedule at a bus stop, peer at a map or carry a heavy load of groceries. But I participate in a less obvious kind of 'random kindness' too: BookCrossing! See http://www.bookcrossing.com for details. Whenever I have books left over -and I also pick up cheap books from thrift stores and free books that are often offered online too- I label them as 'Free book!' and leave them somewhere for others to find. The person who finds the book is then asked to read it and pass it on to someone else, and if they want to, enter a short note on how they liked it on the 'net. I've had very happy responses from this, several people who said it had brightened their day and even one guy who'd had a really bad start that morning, had his wallet stolen, made a police report, had just missed his train, had to wait around the station and there was a free book... cheered him up again at a time he needed it! Of course not everyone responds but I don't mind that, just knowing there are some folks who find a little present just when they need it, makes it a very cool thing to participate in.

Here are things that I do:
(1) Let someone merge/turn in front of me in terrible traffic
(2) Give someone else my parking slip if I leave early
(3) Give a few dollars to the homeless person on the street corner
(4) Tip 40% when someone does a good job, instead of the normal 25% "job well done" tip
(5)Actually say- "Well, and how are you?" to the person at the cash register ------but I consider this polite day-to-day activity
(6) Smile at a kid when they look like they're down
(7) Bring a random treat home for my BF

Yes, random acts of kindness should be in our everyday lives.
Hold a door open.
Give a compliment.
Give up your seat on a bus.
Bring candy to work and share with everyone.
I took a dozen roses to work and gave everyone one.
Take the time to talk to your grandparents.
Make a special dessert for your family or friend.
Send a friendship card to someone for no particular reason.
One time I paid for a little old ladies gas who had an old car and obvious not much money & she never knew who did it.
When my friend went for her first chemo treatment I showed up and gave her a big hug.
Geez, I could go on and on, but it's just doing something kind and thoughtful from the goodness of your heart.

I love to do random acts of kindness, everyday if I can. Yesterday I was in a store and the lady didn't have enough money to pay for her purchases so I gave her the two dollars she needed. In the store where I used to work a little old lady came in and needed a box fan I bought it for her and you would have thought I gave her a million dollars. She still calls me her angel. One day at the post office this man was on one of the motorized cars for handicap people. The wind had blown his hat off so I picked it up and put it back on his head. There is always a way to be kind to people and it makes my heart so proud to help them. Tell people that you love them, give them a hug. It doesn't have to cost a thing, and it will make somebody somewhere happy.

Buy that lunch for the haggard mom who did not have enough money for her own meal.
Fill a basket from your veggie garden and drop it off at neighbors homes.
Bring a coffee to a striking worker on the picket line.
Stop by a nurses station and leave some treats and a note of appreciation anonymously
Give a kind word of encouragement to someone
so many ways to bring light to another persons day it could make all the difference in their world.

Awww. I feel sorry for Peanut Butter! He/she shouldn't give up because of one incident!
I try to do random acts of kindness as much as I can. A smile, a wave, holding the door, helping an old person with groceries, letting others (with one item or who are in a hurry) cut ahead of me in line, giving up my seat on the bus or subway... Whatever I can, whenever I can. It is good for the soul!

Give them a break~someday/someone will do the same for you.3), If you see someone that drops somethig(and can;t pick it up themself) pick~it up for them. say~ wait a min. I'm kind to people because it's who I am. I let someone behind me in the checkout line at a grocery store, who has just a few items, go ahead of me, when I have a full cart. Just a simple act of kindness like that can go a long way. :)

Random acts of kindness... random means having no pattern or done by chance. Personally, I don't think kindness is just random. Most of the time you just do something because you want to.
