Don't you mean Eve??

Your first mistake is assuming that Lilith was a HER.

Lilith was not female.

The legend of Lilith goes back to the creation of the human race. According to which after Adam was created, and BEFORE Eve was created, there was another "person" created to be Adam's mate. This entity was Lilith.

The bible hints at the possibility of Lilith in that after the creation of Adam, Adam looked for a help-mate among God's creatures, they all already had mates, there was nothing appropriate for Adam.

Presumably Adam needed to look for a mate because Lilith had been kicked from the garden.

The legend has it that Lilith fought for superiority in the relationship with Adam. God looked at the fighting with disfavor and kicked Lilith. Presumably, Lilith was the instigator.

But remember Lilith was not a woman. Which we know because woman had not yet been created!

So what was Lilith?

Rashi, an 11th century Rabbi and famed biblical commentator, notes that in the creation of Eve, the first woman, the word often mistranslated as "rib", in fact should be translated as "side". He draws his conclusion from other locations in the bible where the same Hebrew word is used, and in each other case it clearly means "side" NOT "rib".

So Eve was taken from Adam's side. Just enough smaller so that the remaining slightly larger side could still be thought of as the original and hold title to the name.

The analogy to a Y chromosome, essentially an X with a large part missing is interesting.

So if Eve was taken from Adam's side. Then before Eve was cleaved off from Adam, before woman was cleaved off from man, Adam was BOTH male and female, otherwise known as a hermaphrodite.

And if Adam, before Eve was created, was a hermaphrodite. Then Lilith, Adam's mate at the time, must have also been a hermaphrodite, NOT a woman. (It is interesting to note that the Babylonian ledgend speaks of a Lilith-Lilu female-male unit pair).

In essence, by removing Lilith, and splitting the Original Adam, each remaining half was just that, half. Only together would they make a whole. Any fight for superiority between the two halves would be pointless and self defeating. So that now, only as a partnership of complimentary halves could man and woman succeed.

B/c Adam was a wussy little man and since was made ten minutes first God took his side.
Oh the old legend says Lilith volunterly left but Adam acted whiny again so God sent out 3 angels. The deal she made with them is they would kill some demonic kids of hers if she wasn't to hurt human babys wearing some amulet bearing there names.
--- As u can tell a lot of Christains have clearly never came upon this legend which is why a lot are babbling about Eve.

Isn't it funny how many people here actually think that the story about "Lilith" is actually IN the Bible?

The story of Adam and Lilith is a obscure Jewish folk legend that most religious people didn't know anything about until the secular feminist movement decided to use her as a symbol.

This is a trick question, since there appears to be no one right answer.

====edit===

[There appear to be many different legends about her, that is why there is no right answer]

what are you reading? last time i checked it was eve, not lilith. I think your reading the wrong book. but eve and adam got kicked out of the garden, and it wasnt cuz they were fighting. Read the first chapter in the Bible and you will have a better idea of whats going on.

What?? I don't remember any Lilith around. Adam and Eve were both "kicked" from the garden. They didn't fight.

Adam and Eve were not fighting...Adam was being totaly jerk and not taking responsibility for his actions which is what got him into trouble...it is what always gets us into trouble.

God kicked them both out of the garden.

it wasn't because lillith was a woman or adam was a man (the whole story being alligory anyway) lillith was to watch over and protect humanity as it evolved. she refused to have anything to to with such a primitive creature and for her disobedience (the purpose of any angel is to serve) she fell. she attempted her revenge by going amongst early man and teaching them evil (murder, theft, etc.) and twisting their new souls to darkness, giving her the name "mother of deamons"

He didn't kick her out - she left.

And in fact He sent three angels after her to see if she would come back, but she didn't want to......get in the whole conversation.

You misunderstood the Bible. They both got in trouble. They both got kicked out. God didn't take anybody's side at all.
