I'm considering getting a digital camcorder, and I'd like to do video editing on my PC, but I don't have a firewire port (or any free slots for a firewire port.) Is there another way to upload videos from a camcorder to a PC?

If You Don't Have Open Slots Or A FireWire Port you Will Need To Upgrade Your Existing Ports To USB HiSpeed (2.0) or (Ideally) FireWire OR FireWire 800 Any Other Ports Will Be Difficult Or Impossible To Work With. USB (1.0 & 2.0) CAN Be Used In SOME Instances BUT, Even Though USB 2.0 Is Fast It Sends Info Via "Packets" Or Pulses Which Dosen't Work Well For Video. It Can Result In "Lost Frames" And "Out Of Synch" Audio. FireWire Was Developed For A Continuous Stream Of Data that's Perfect For Video.

it depends on the camera. Some cameras will connect with USB 2.0 which is faster than firewire.
