I met this really sweet guy. He is Mexican and I am Black. I speak limited Spanish, but I can follow a conversation though. He speaks limited English, but he can understand for the most part. But I want to have an extensive conversation with him besides the basic daily talk and I cant express myself without us sitting at the computer.

If something is too difficult to put into words, I will type the English version and it will show the Spanish translation with an audio pronounication. It is actually a fun learning tool, but it gets difficult sometimes if we are at a various location without the assistance.

I have been desperately been wanting to learn Spanish & Arabic for years. It's really mandatory in America. I am wondering can this work in the long run? Has anyone else tried this? What is a good way to start learning another language? Talking with someone daily will help I suppose because you hear it all day everyday.

I am the whitest of the white, but let me tell you- on the phone, everyone thinks I am 100% Mexican.

I was seven the first time my parents took me to Mexico. I loved it! THe people, the culture, the language. In high school, I took German. In college I took a few Spanish courses but began to hang out with ALL Latinos- from everywhere- the Carribean, Central America, South America, Mexico. I really liked the guys- "latino lover" reputation and all...

Now, I am completely fluent. I even lived in Mexico for a year, too.

Keep up the hard work- it'll pay off.

I consider you...if the persons understand how to talk english, that does depart the persons who do not talk spanish assuming the chat is approximately them, handiest usual. And that's impolite! And that is America and english is the language. I paintings with many spanish speakme persons and so they might like me to talk in spanish. If I supply directions in spanish as a brand new language to me and screw it up...I simply screwed up. It is a demand at paintings that staff talk english, sorry! I might enterprise one warning...you will have to in no way expect that the opposite individual does not comprehend/talk a language they do not look aware of. So many persons were embarrassed by way of that~

Just enjoy trying to communicate with each other for the moment. After a time, the dominant (i.e. better for the two of you) language will emerge and you'll be able to talk about "deep things" as well as "what are we going to eat tonight?" things . . .

My wife and I could barely speak to each other when we met. She's Turkish, I'm American. almost 5 years later, we're doing fine. At least one of you is going to have to study hard, though.

Interested in going to Spain?
(Actually, Spain would be pretty cool.... ya think?)
