And I am not looking for pie in the sky answers like "deport them all" it just is not happening. What would you do to deal fairly with those in our borders now, while making it harder for people to come here illegally?

1st - Secure the border, with American troops. Hey, South Korea does it on their border!
2nd - Enforce the laws currently on the books.
3rd - Tax all wire transfers of money to Mexico at 33%. The Federal government thinks nothing of taxing citizens at that rate and if it's good enough for us, then it's good enough for criminals. The money collected would be used to pay for the troops guarding the border.

I'd start by imposing a 2 million dollar fine per illegal alien on any company that employed them. Secondly, I'd impose economic sanctions against Mexico.

I know that all the illegals in this country aren't from Mexico; however, Mexico is the main point of entry. Then I would find a way to pull out of NAFTA, and I'd seal the border. Mexico has a zero tolerance policy on it's southern border with Guatemala, so I'd do the same thing here.

Lastly, I'd give border patrol agents greater fire power and shoot to kill orders. Anyone not in a border patrol uniform gets a bullet (except kids). I'd also tell Mexico's Vicente Fox we are instituting a shoot to kill policy, and I'd also discourage Americans from traveling to Mexico. And if all else failed, I'd use the CIA to remove Fox from power. It's not a perfect plan, but I think it be better than a fence or amnesty.

This was our best option yet, it was turned down, but i think it will be passed.
It would have helped the people that were already here, and would have enforced new immigration laws. If you people didnt know, it is extremely hard for "Illegals" to come across now, which means our border agents are doing a good job. MASSIVE deportation is not an option...

First off i'd make the border secure and close it off for a bit then I would set up harsh penalties for anyone hiring them. Loss of business license and mandatory jail time.
I would authorize all law officers to enquire into legal status and after the illegal serves time, they would be deported.
Anyone renting a home/apartment to illegals lose their property which will be sold to help cover deportation costs.
Anyone harboring an illegal will do jail time and also lose their property.
Their will be no social benefits whatsoever for illegals.
Implement this and the illegals will go home on their own!

I assume you are talking about illegal aliens, and not legal immigration. I would build the fence, hire more border patrol, enforce the existing laws on the books today. I would create stiffer penalties for employers that knowingly hire illegals and in some cases jail sentences would be imposed. I would remove the anchor baby rule from our laws. Being in this country is illegal, and I would make it very clear that it will no longer be tolerated.

Build the fence to stop the flow, suspend all new immigrants that are not qualified for higher learning capabilities, deport the criminals in jail , and slowly send back the illegals and their families.
Yeah...fantasy land right

Full enforcement of fines on employers and a national, public service awareness campaign that broadcasts the primary message that hiring undocumented immigrants is illegal.

Employers would conduct a mandatory legal status background check. Violations would be very harsh.

I have the definitive answer. Send Mexico 1,000 idle "Minutemen" for every hard-working Mexican who comes across the border. Our population problem is solved.
