He’s a gentleman who always seems to keep his wits about him in adversity or bad situations. Case in point, after he and Tony Stewart got together at Watkins Glen, Stewart went into an expletive-laced tirade launched directly at Gordon.
Gordon gave some of it back, but he didn’t feel the need to four-letter word his rebuttal while doing it. The same two tangled at Bristol and Jeff was practically laughing about the whole thing.
Could it be that Gordon is hated so much because he beats all the other drivers? Because he is a winner? Because he has a beautiful wife who is right there with him win or lose?

Or, could it be because he's on a winning Winston Cup and Craftsman Trucks Series team that rarely falters? Rick Hendrick knows how to build a winner, and more importantly, how to keep them a winner. His teams may not win them all, but they can never be counted out.
It just makes me wonder.
As far as the championship goes, even though he does have a good sized point lead, it doesn’t guarantee him the championship. There are way to many races left in the year with too many possibilities for failure.
It’s easier to lose points than earn them. Climbing uphill in the standings takes much more out of a team’s strength than anything else.
I’d like to see the drama continue right up until the final laps. To me, one of the greatest NASCAR races of all time was the 1992 finale with Bill Elliott, Alan Kulwicki and Davey Allison slugging it out.
Kulwicki, an underdog, won the championship in grand, dramatic fashion. I don’t know if we’re going to get treated to something like that this year, but it would be nice.
America seems to always root for an underdog as opposed to a sure thing winner. It makes it more interesting to follow. Back to the movie reference -- would you watch it if the ending were so predictable?
Whatever your reason for disliking the possible soon-to-be five-time champion, get ready to yell a little more and a little louder. If history is on his side, he’ll need to get some more Brasso to shine all the hardware that he’s going to get at the awards banquet.
Keep yelling Gordon-haters, Jeff can hear you -- but it doesn’t matter.

People hate him because he's a winner. They can't standdthe fact that he surpassed Dale Sr's win record and is someday going to be the greatest driver in the history of nascar. And the people who threw beer cans at him, they're not real nascar fans. Like 2 weeks ago when the people cheered as soon as he hit the wall, they arn't real fans either. That was a really hard hit and he could have ended up like Sr. I've watched this sport ever since I was 4 years old and have been a gordon fan since and I think people should respect a driver that is as good as Jeff is.

Thanks.

Because he took Nascar by storm, and stole a lot of Earnhardts thunder in the eyes of most of the haters, although they were good friends and business partners on many occasions. He's just like all the great dynasty sports teams, you love em or hate em.
Plus, has made way more money than anyone in Nascar ever, and will hold that reign for a long time.
I have to agree with drivinfast31, my ACE is getting a little wild with that hair now.. lol
maybe he's on that not cutting it until the baby is born thing?

He actually is one of the most popular drivers in the sport, however most everyone who isn't a fan of his HATES (or strongly dislikes) him!

I compare Gordon to the Yankees... They both win alot and will do anything possible to win... I've seen him take guys out to win many times throughout his career, although he has gotten much better about that sort of thing...

Sad but true. Jeff Gordon is the most popular driver to be hated on. Nascar fans hate him because he wins all the time. The majority of Nascar fans are Jr. fans, so when Jeff Gordon wins that means Jr. doesn't.

Because he came into NASCAR at a very young age, and almost immediately began to beat the drivers he wasn't supposed to beat. He was dominate in the 90's and is apparantly still able to dominate now, even with a mediocre car. He is hated because he wins, and it is much easier to hate a winner than it is to hate a loser.

He wins. And he's good looking. And he has money. And his wife is beautiful. And his last wife was beautiful. Jealousy is an ugly thing.

The other thing is, it's 1 vs 42 out there. There are a lot of guys to root for, and when the fans of the other 42 drivers lose, they unite.

because he is not dale earnhardt, he beat dale in numerous close races and angered 80% of racing fans by doing so(earnhardt was and still is the most popular driver), his son was then embraced by his dads fans and is always being edged by gordon, also gordon has won ALOT of races going back 5 or 10 years or whatver when the sport wasnt as big, hes a guy who doesnt talk with a southern accent, isnt burly and manly looking, and drives a rainbow car, the southerners who dominate the fan base hate him because he is a pretty boy

I think Jeff wants to keep that mullet of his for good luck just as he did back in the 90's.
