Im interested in the mafia but im not sure what they do or if they exist. does the mafia(s) in New York city still exist and what crimes do they commit? And by committing crimes how much money do they get cause its not like mobsters have day time jobs right? Also is the mafia like what is seen in the movie "Goodfellas". And if the cops know who the mob bossses are why dont they arrest them? And one more question what do the mafia do on a day to day bases and are they rich?

They are organized criminals who set up legit businesses as front to do their criminal business such as extortion, money laundering, and whatever else they do to make a dishonest buck. They are alive and well, and the worst part of it all ius, in addition to the Italiam/Silician mafia, there is now the Russian mafia doing business in America.
