One day, my friends had to get to school for some club their in at like 6:00 in the morning, so I walked to school solo. On the way, I decided to walk into a Fashion Footwear that was on the way to school to check something out. But as it was only 7:00, it was still closed. So I walked down the plaza when all of a sudden, a parking meter just broke. The top fell off and quarters were falling everywhere. Within seconds, a security guard at the plaza came running in. For no reason he accused me of this. He told em to empty my purse. Inside my purse, he found three quarters. He accused me of theft He then handcuffed me to a nearby dumpster. It was embarrassing. Not only was I in my school uniform, but a school bus passed by and people I knew saw me handcuffed. Then the police arrived. They asked me a few questions and told me I would have to come with them. They handcuffed me behind my back and took me to school first. I was brought in with my handcuffs still on (so embarrassing)

to explain to the principal that I would not be coming to school, or that I would be late. I don’t why the police didn’t just call the school. Then they took me to the station. I was put into my own cell that was very, very small. It was like 5’ x 7’. They didn’t even take the handcuffs off from behind me back, they just left them on me behind my back, in my own cell. They said I’d have to wait about two hours, then we could go to the store when it opened to see the security tapes. After two very long hours, they put me back in the cop car to go to Famous Footwear (still in my handcuffs). We arrived and one of my mom’s friends saw me. She wouldn’t even speak or look at me. They talked to the manager and I just sat on one of the chairs. We were finally allowed in the back to see the tapes. We played them back for at least 10 minutes and it proved that I did not steal the quarters that were found in my purse. So they put me in the car to take me back to school,

but even though I was proven innocent, why did the keep the handcuffs on me? I was taken to school and led through the halls (still in my handcuffs, even though I was innocent). I sat in the principal’s office and the police explained everything. I was finally release and told to get to class. I had (and still have) some terrible marks on my wrist from the handcuffs. So can someone tell me, was it okay to arrest me for something like that? And even after I was proven innocent, why wouldn’t they remove my handcuffs?
By the way, this is my friend's account. I'm asking it on here because I ran out of questions on mine.
