Because stupidity breeds stupidity.
They obviously have no knowledge and are insecure.

I'll start by saying I am British and I have always lived in England so as such I have never faced any major racism.
If people took the bleep out of me being English I'd probably say "It's a fair cop". If people were genuinely abusive about it that would be a different thing, but like I said it's never happened so i don't know what I'd do.
But, as a child I was very aware that my accent was different to my classmates - I'd lived in Croydon all my life like most of them, but my mum is from Gloucester and my dad has a vaguely grammar school tone so my accent was a mishmash of the three. I was accused of being a yokel one minute, and a posh snob the next... and what I did was train myself to fit in. :-(
But I am not a kid anymore and there's no way I'd do that now - in fact I am proud that I can adapt my voice to slide into "important company" or "Croydonese" depending on the situation.
Be proud of who you are and let them get on with it. If they are British they may well just be envious that other cultures have CULTURE and HISTORY and ... well the British are defined by drinking tea and moaning about the weather - it's a bit rubbish really

I go through the same thing, even in high school when kids are supposed to be more mature. They automatically think any asian they see (including me) is chinese. Not that there's anything wrong with being chinese, but haven't these people ever heard of Korea, Japan, Vietnam, etc.? They also always try to mimic the language and think it's funny. By 'they' I mean usually just a handful of every class. Still, the ignorance and immaturatiy catches me, because I though that maybe by 16, 17, and 18 these kids would have dropped their second grade habits.

I think you've already gotten the right answer - not stooping down to their level. Most of the time people make fun of or do other things because they feel threatened in some way. There will always be ignorant and stupid people, just a fact of life. Just ignore them, you'll be a better person for not dropping to their level. I'm sure you're better off than they are! Or maybe the fellas were check you out and not them. LOL
Take care!!

There's a simple thing you can do and that is not to react . I'm black and i live in England . I work at a petrol station and have been subjected to worse comments and abuse . The people in question would come everyday and try something until they stopped . The reason they stopped is that i didn't give them the reaction they expected . As hard as it was to take in some of the things said i kept calm and just looked at them . They can hate your race but they can't do anything to change that . Maybe they see something special about you .

That just means they are not happy with who they are as a person, teasing someone to make themselves feel good. Def. isnt someone you would want as a friend, so just ignore it, they arent worth your time, you are unique and everything about you is what makes you who you are. Don't let people try to take your self confidence away, there is only one you in the world, use how they make you feel positively, start a group, or an online community for people that feel the same way. No matter what they say remember You Are Beautiful! Uniquely and Perfectly You :)
If it was me, I would carry my self confidence high, and not let them think it was bugging me, they want a reaction, dont give it to them!!!

I usually just consider the source and ignore such things. Sometimes, for a laugh, I join in and make the jokes before they can. That also seems to upset them quite a lot.

The can't handle not being first, I guess.

You know that life is not fair honey. These people are prejudiced, bigoted, judgemental, and i hope not typical of the rest of the fair minded people in this country. It sounds as if you are doing the right thing by rising above it, although it's hurtful. Take care.

I am UK Caucasian indigenous British and I find Indian people make fun of the UK by claiming to be British. This never happens in countries like China or Japan, nobody goes to japan , lives there for a for months and claims to be Japanese

how would I react to people making fun of my race? I'd probably laugh my butt off. If they could find nothing other than the color of my skin to be critical of, well, that would make me pretty darned happy. Personally I find a great deal more wrong with my own race than I do with others, but I still endeavor to see similarities rather than differences.

Just ignore these stupid and ignorant people. They're seeking attention although it may not appear like this straight away. These loosers are just insecure and need to be noticed. I would'nt give them the time of day! Hold your head high. x x
