The adults who believe in God don't view their deity as imaginary. If the child tried to convince everyone that their imaginary friend was real, and could perform miracles, we'd probably send that kid for a psych evaluation.
Convincing people of any personal experience that can't be proven, whether it's a spiritual experience, a near-death experience, a paranormal experience, etc., is always viewed with suspicion by people who don't happen to have had those same experiences or share those beliefs.

Well, it's hard to say. People want other people to believe (this is coming from a non-Christian by the way) because they probably think that God will help the people who convince other people to convert to Christianity.
As for the kids and their imaginary friends, its all a phase.

Because children are not educated in the terms of religion as adults should be. Chuildren do not worship these imaginary freidns, pray to them or expect them to create a life for them that is worth living. They are fun, silly friends that they will grow out of. Which, in my opinion, would work well if kids did see god as just an imaginary friends...so they can eventually learn and grow out of it

I think it is fine in both cases, so long as they don't in turn push their belief in this imaginary being onto other people like it is the one right and true way or something.
I really like how you associated the two, admitting that god is an imaginary friend.

It's perfectly okay for adults to believe in God. You will possibly get ridiculed and outcast, but in ancient Rome, people were actually -killed- for believing God. If you ever have doubts, just stop and think about how all this( the world, life, everything)came to be and pray hard.

So, uh, God is your imaginary friend? I don't understand the question. Imaginary people and deities are not one in the same.

I agree.
And if at all, they want an imaginary friend, then keep him in their imagination and not brag about it in public, or not go on wars with other countries to defend that imaginary friend.

No problem at all, as long as those adults don't force their imaginary friend into our government and laws.
