Guys shouldn't go to the prom at all. I'm sure one of your classmates is having a party somewhere after the prom, why not show up there? That way, you don't have to spend all the money on a tux and a limo, and you can still have a great time on the party. There will also be plenty of women at the party, so you'll actually have a better chance of getting laid than if you took someone to the prom.

Do you really like dressing in a tux? Do you really like dancing? Do you really have hundreds of dollars to waste on this? Just go to the after party, and have a couple of beers and hook up there.

A tuxedo or nice suit is fine. If you feel like dressing up, go for the tux. They come in many different colors, but I would recommend a gray of black one. If you don't feel like completely dressing out, try out a nice suit and tie, these come in gray, black, and brown. You can rent a suit or tux at your local bridal store, or you can buy one if you think you'll use it again.

of course a TUXEDO----you can find some pretty creative and flashy ones or just your basic black or WHITE tux---or go all out and get what is called a TOP HAT AND TAILS----it's a short waist length "fancy suit jacket" with two long "tails" down the back... and a big top hat to match.... OR, you can get almost any color of tux to be different but if you go for color, make sure YOUR color doesn't clash with the color of your dates' dress.... (that's usually why guys wear either white, gray or black tux's)...
