I have a 2001 Buick Century. I have tried see if any of the fuses are out because my Break lights just wont come on. I notice that if i turn the lights on the rear lamps light up. if i push the breaks the lights don't come on. I tried looking at all the fuses, and nothing is blown. I also went under the hood but still i got nothing. What could be the problem and how do i fix it. I have tried several different methods but no fuses are out. I touched the back of the break light switch, i don't know if it's suppose to be loose but it was really loose i could rotate the thing with my finger....what should i do? HELP PLEASE

it sounds like your turn signal switch has went out. check to see if the urn signals are working. if they are not then you may have to take it to a shop to have it fixed, unless you know how to take a steering column apart.

First of all, buy yourself a 12V test light. Connect the alligator clip to ground and test the fuses, both sides should light up at the same intensity. Then go to the brake light switch on the pedal, there are usually two one is for the lights and the other is a dump switch for the cruise. The one you are looking for is the one without the big rubber vacuum hose on it. Touch the test light to the orange wire and it should light. Depress the brake pedal and the test light should still be on when touching the orange. Now touch your light to a pink with a black tracer or the other side of the switch and it should light. If it does, fuses and switches are good. You will now have to find the open in the wiring or it could be bulbs or socket problems. Take you light and follow this stuff back. Good luck.
