Lisp maybe caused by natural defects like short tongue or spaces in between teeth.

The first one can't be remedied but the second can be by visiting an orthodontist and have some braces or trainers installed to straighten the teeth, so that the spaces or gaps are removed. After this, some improvements when speaking will be noticeable.

Either cut your tongue shorter or learn to keep it further back in your mouth.

Serious bit - if someone has a lisp, it's worth checking to verify that their hearing is OK. We all know how "th" and "s" sound the same over the phone - people with hearing difficulties can easily confuse these sounds into one so get it checked.
