You have to understand this--Christians aren't perfect, they're forgiven. Just as the car ahead of you on the highway started out before you, or moved along faster than you, and there are other cars behind you for various reasons,, it doesn't mean that they are bad cars, or special cars, or that their place on the highway denotes that they are better than the other cars. All Christians are on a journey, some are farther along in living a Christian ideal, others falter. They're not bad people, there's nothing wrong with the religion, perfection is a long and slow process sometimes. The worth of the Religion is that there is HOPE and EFFORT and DESIRE TO IMPROVE and that the people keep trying to live the Christian ideal. How many other religions do you demand perfection from? Why is it only Christians?

I think you can measure the value of Christianity through what Christians do. Christianity has brought food and medicines to the farthest parts of the world. Christianity has set up churches, orphanages, hospitals, food banks, shelters for children, abused women, the poor, the sick, the mentally handicapped. Christianity has brought hope, and peace to the people that call that call themselves Christian. To follow Christ is to give up the selfish desires of one's own life and seek to make better the lives the people around them. That is true Christianity. But there are too many small, narrow minded people that do not see the good, refuse to see the good, or just plainly have evil in their hearts and only see the failures of some Christians. Christians will fail, and continue to make mistakes. Christians are not perfect, but the goal of Christianity is not for everyone to be perfect, or for everyone to be the same. A relationship with God through Christ is the purpose and meaning of Christianity. This is the most important detail. We do good, not out of ourselves, but for the God who saved us. There is no other movement on this planet that has done as much for humanity has Christianity. I'm not trying to hide the wrongs done in the past, I admit mistakes have been made, but there have been tremendous achievements made as well. And if someone can't admit that, then they aren't being honest with themselves, or just hate God and Christianity so much they are blinded by their own hate.

And why do non-Christians continue to come on here and stereotype Christians? The truth is that you can apply this to any religion or even atheism and other secular groups. Some people do good. Some people do bad. Why would it be any different with Christianity? That said, overlooking the bad acts of some is not exclusive to Christianity by any means. Not that some Christians don't do the same thing, but this is a vile stereotype you are presenting here.

Jesus is who we are supposed to compare ourselves to and that is a very difficult standard to live up to. That being said, Christians are supposed to and try to correct each other. We do (in general) speak out against people or groups claiming to be Christians but not following The Christ (for example, I and many others did with the Jesus Camp film), but we have absolutely no control over other people's actions. We can't force someone to act according to our beliefs. Some Christians give Christianity a bad name, but Jesus never did.
God Bless.

Well I wouldn't measure the "worth" of my gender by how other women act, that of my profession by how other teachers act, and I certainly wouldn't measure the worth of being an American by how certain people in this country act; so why would I do it for my religion?

Measure the worth of their religion. How strange.
Measure themselves against this surely -
James 1:27:
27Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Because human beings are not the measure by which man will be judged, nor will Christians be judged by human beings, whether they are believers or not. Our Authority is a Holy God, He set the standards by which we should live and by which we will be judged, and the worth of a religion is in the deity it serves.

You may esteem the worth of your religion and your value by the price God paid for you.
You see, the safety of God´s universe requires that He uphold his noble laws and punish transgressors. It is known in legal terms as ¨retributivism¨, pay-day for sinners, because there is no excuse for disobeying an impeccable leader.
But man thought he knew better, and suffers the consequences, and that is death. Yes, through Adam´s sin, all men must die, but through one Man´s (Christ) righteousness, we all may live again, and ¨many will be saved.¨
Yes, the ¨gentile¨dispensation has been worse than the time allotted for the sons of Abram. We have killed more people in the name of God, and not only transgress His law, but have thought to alter it--see Daniel 7--that was predicted.
God´s plan of redemption and restoration of earth was sealed in a Bible code, just for us. select http://abiblecode.tripod.com
