Acidity of acid rain is not enough to burn skin. It was a cause celeb in the 1970s when a german scientist thought that it caused deforestation. Like almost every environmental "crisis", it was exaggerated and it turned out that acid rain isn't / wasn't the problem it was claimed to be.

Acid rain itself means the rain water contains acid. Any acid in contact with the body skin, gives irritation, pigment discolouring and tissue damage - all depends on the concentration and the type of the acid in the rain

jim z is right--scientists found that "acid rain" wasn't really what was causing a lot of the problems it was being blamed for.
"Acid rain" is never strong enough to burn your skin. In fact, it is generally less acidic than cola, and only in the most extreme cases is it as acidic as lemon juice or vinegar--and those don't burn your skin!

The acidification of surface waters causes little direct harm to people. It is safe to swim in even the most acidified lakes. However, toxic substances leached from soil can pollute local water supplies. In Sweden, as many as 10,000 lakes have been polluted by mercury released from soils damaged by acid rain, and residents have been warned to avoid eating fish caught in these lakes. In the air, acids join with other chemicals to produce urban smog, which can irritate the lungs and make breathing difficult, especially for people who already have asthma, bronchitis, or other respiratory diseases. Solid particles of sulfates, a class of minerals derived from sulfur dioxide, are thought to be especially damaging to the lungs.

It is a very dilute acid, not as strong as lemon juice. The only problem is when it is concentrated by the sun in a small lake.
