No, it is not artificial. It is the original brand of arisol spray fat and reduces calories by putting a thin coat of fat evenly across a pan (unless you use it like my wife.) These days there are several versions and the can will tell you what kind of oil is inside: olive oil, canola, corn, etc. The butter flavor may be artificial flavor.
