See the black shirt as a uniform - we wear so that people recognise us - a bit like seeing a policeman in uniform... but nowadays not all clerical shirts are black - they are available in lots of colours too. Previously black and grey were worn by clergy as a symbol of poverty - when bright colours were expensive.

My personal prejudice tells me that a person in a suit and tie has had no particular religious training and therefore cannot be trusted to know what he is talking about.
A priest or one with a black shirt and white collar signifies to me that he/she has had training and has a degree to teach religion. (I am not a catholic)

I would rather a minister wear sweat pants and a casual sweat shirt. So we wouldn't have to dress up for church.

I don't even care if he's not in a suit and tie. It's whether he's preaching the truth that counts.

I don't care what he's wearing. Other than Sunday and special occasions, he's probably just wearing work/play clothes. The inside, not the outside is what counts.

Normal everyday clothes is fine with me. Forcing someone to wear certain clothes in order to teach or preach is a bit silly.

As long as they actually teach God's Word not man's, it doesn't matter. In my church he might have a suit and tie.
Don't look at the appearance but the heart.

Personally I care more about being Spirit driven that what the fashion of the day is. Not being ugly.
