If it is a semi-permanent color you want the same day...and if it is a permanent color then two weeks. Make sure you condition it well. Olive Oil has a great conditioner.

I was told at least a month and that you should go with highlights instead of a full on color. I followed all the "rules" and still got breakage, because I couldn't keep up with the extra care my hair too after 2 processes (relaxer & color).
Good luck with your choice!!!

I wouldn't recommed lighening your hair at all. A darker color would be fine. As far as how long you should wait...that depends on the condition of your hair. Speak with a professional hair dresser who has a lot of experience with relaxers.

You can get a rinse the same day you perm it, but acutal color you have to wait at least six weeks. Be careful with color weather it be highlights or all over. It will make your hair dry so you have to make sure deep condition it, hydrate it and cut back on the hot curlers.
