Some things I sometimes feed my dogs are:
chicken
rice
hamburger
boiled eggs
canned vegetables
pasta
the juice left in the pan when you cook a steak

I don't really have recipes, other than to say you could make 2 or 3 things from the list and mix them in a bowl. Oh, and on Thanksgiving we make them each a plate with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, etc.

Keep in mind they don't eat this stuff all the time, just once in a while. Normally they eat regular dog food. If you're planning on exclusively feeding the dogs people food you should probably talk to your vet to create a diet that will provide them with all the nutrients they need.

I'd stay away from the Nutro Max. I'm not a fan of Nutro in general, and Max is their lower-end food. A lot of people here rave about Blue Buffalo. I'm not familiar with the other two brands and I don't' use any wet food myself, so I can't comment there.

There are a few good home cooking and nutrition for dogs groups on Yahoo. I suggest you join them and read through the archives for good diets. I fed my dog a home cooked diet and she lived to be a healthy 18 1/2 years old.

http://www.canidae.com
Canidae is made from all natural, human grade ingredients from US suppliers.
It may appear to cost more but because it is a quality food you feed less and dogs poop less. There are also no empty fillers like corn and wheat (which cause allergies) or wheat gluten and rice protein (cheap ways to boost the protein content of dog food, but also the source of melamine in so many of the recent recalls)
