Sometimes they do, but I find that odd.

Hmmm i have never heard of that, usually holding hands is the first step to something more than just a friendship, it definitely is not just a friendly gesture.

Me and my friend (a boy) hold hands all the time but we are just freinds. I, at one point, really liked him but he didn't like me that way so I accepted it but we still hold hands. No romantic gestures.

It depends on the frequency....I have been known to hold hands with a male friend in which there was nothing more than friendship but it was a rare occassion...hugs were more likely and frequent....but if it's happening frequently, then I'd say there's a mutual attraction that's more than friendship!

I have given friends of the opposite sex hugs in the past...but to walk around holding their hand...that is different as it is constant contact.
Only you two know if there is something more going on. And if you don't, maybe it is time to ask.
be cool...

Actually I used to like holding hands, but I don't anymore, it makes me feel like a child! If we are sitting together at a table having a romantic dinner then it's nice to fondle each other;s hands, but walking down the street holding hands feels too corny for me, but then again it might be my age!!

Some male/female friends may hold hand, but it maybe something more. I don't hear of to many friends like that that hold hands so there maybe more.

Most people only hold hands when they are in a romantic relationship. There is the exception to every rule but that's the way I see it.

Sometimes there's more, sometimes there's not. It depends on the people, really - for example, ANYONE who knows me knows that I give hugs freely, and they are absolutely no indication of wanting or feeling "something more".
EDIT: Are you wondering because somebody did this to you? I'd think it'd be simple enough to simply watch the "offender" around other people - if s/he does it to you but not to others, that should be all the clue you need.

I've held hands with some of my guy friends, but we're really good friends. Usually it means something more. It depends on what kind of friends you are I guess.

I find nothing wrong with it. And yes, they do. Both of my best friends, outside of my wife, are female, and we hug, hold hands, and kiss each other (on the cheek, of course) when we are with each other. But they are in NJ, and I am in MD, so I have not seen either of them in a while.
