They wouldnt. As I teach my children to RESPECT others beliefs. I wouldnt stop them from talking about God or anything, and I certainly wouldnt punish them.

Why would an atheist tell their kids not to talk about God, or punish their kids for doing so? That's the kind of sick crap we're against when it comes from the religious end.
Counter with reason, and hope for the best. I don't care that my kids believe in a god or not. But I do hope it never gets in the way of their thinking rationally.

Unlike Christians I would not force my children to follow in my belief. I am Pagan, but my parents who where Pagan didn't drag me to Pagan gatherings, force the word of Pagism on me or tell me that I could only be Pagan. As I grew I had questions about other religions, so I took some theology classes and learned what I wanted to know. I am Pagan by my choice, not my parents.
Your question seems to suggest that you would force your children to believe what you believe and that you won't take no for an answer. This seems to be a common practice among Christians! Too bad.

Your premise is wrong.....most atheists would let their children believe whatever made them happy. I wouldn't punish them for believing in a fairytale, but I probably would ban all talk of religion at family events. Just so there's no bickering. However, as they'd have been raised to know about ALL religions, the chances of them wanting to be christian is pretty much nil.

I wouldn't punish them in the first place. But I would make it very clear, after listening politely to their concerns a few times, that I do not want to be saved.

I have a child and she is an Atheist, perhaps even stronger than I. She is a highly intelligent, educated girl who sees religion for what it is.
A power trip perpetrated on the uneducated and simple, by borderline psychotics with an unnatural need for control.
No child of mine, in even the most outrageous fantasy, could ever believe in any of that nonsense.

GIve them a chance, they're smarter than you for having faith. They are trying to help you! You can't punish them for that!
That's like punishing a doctor for using a treatment you don't like! They are helping you. I have witnessed miracles, and seen
lots of things in my life. Your children are smart, don't punish them.

My kids are not old enough to choose for themselves yet, they will have that option when they are a bit wiser, having more knowledge.
That being said, how or why would I punish adult children?
My kids know when I'm done discussing something.

Hopefully my children would be intelligent enough not to choose the path of organized religion, especially not one in which they feel they must "save" me.
Barring that, I would explain to them that their choice of faith is perfectly fine for them, but that others don't necessarily agree with them and they should keep it to themselves, as faith should always be.
