Wow.....that must be very sad...be there to comfort him when he needs it. Give hime some time alone to think his feelings and sort things out. Patience. It will take a lot of time to heal that wound....especially if someone close to you dies.
Or, think of it this way, how wold you feel if your grandma has died?How would you want him to treat you?

You extend your condolences and then you go with him to the funeral if he invites you. It actually depends on the length of your relationship if you should go uninvited or not, or how well you know his family.

Ask yourself what you would want from him if your grandmother died. Whatever your answer is, give that to him.
