Here's the thing...I have no problem with the 24 driver, that being said, I cannot help but think there is something going between nascar and Hendricks. Nascar is pushing Jeff down peoples throats and loving the love hate relationship it is causing. At the same time, this is making people who love the sport cringe everytime there is an occurence like yesterday, whether it was Carl in the 99 or Ryan, or whoever was there at the crucial time, once again NASCAR leaves doubt, Jeff gets the fallout.
Heres the question...is it fair equitable or just that the people are manipulated by the nascar powers that be and a particular owner, or is it time to call it what it is, and stop bashing the guys driving?

If you want to know what I think Michie, I think that NASCAR was actually trying to AVOID criticism yesterday. I feel they thought if they left it green, Newman would catch Gordon and there would be a battle for the lead. NASCAR knew if they threw the caution when Jimmie had troubles, that they wouldn't get the race started again, and it would end under caution. I think they honestly waited until the last millisecond before they HAD to throw the caution. Even Newman said he knew he had to catch Gordon within the next lap because he knew the yellow was coming out soon...and he even thought it was coming out sooner than it did. I know this probably means nothing to you because you feel I am biased because I am a Gordon fan. But in all honesty, I feel that is what NASCAR tried to do...it just didn't satisfy the fans like they thought it would. This is my humble opinion.

There are a few drivers that have received "gimmie races" before. Jeff has 4 in his career(he said this yesterday)! 79-4=75. I know Nascar didn't help him w/ all of those. Yesterday, I myself wish they would have postponed the race until today. Don't get me wrong I'm glad he won. But I knew there would be alot of backlash about his win! (I heard it in my own home). I just take it all in, there's no since in arguing about it. I just wish everyone would give Jeff the credit he deserves! Also, Nascar would be ruined as a sport if it did come out that they were handing races to drivers or that the races were fixed.

Not being a smart a** w/ the Math, Mitchie!!

I guess i have watching the sport too long to understand why people think there is a secret maniputation going on. I remember this debate going on every decade. It is always someone and NASCAR has handle this one like the others, just let it go. I have never seen any call, yellows, rain or penalties that I think is out of line by NASCAR. The main problem as I see it is the team concept. Hendrick is the top dog right now, I hate it as a Gibbs fan but they are it. When Petty fielded multi-cars in the late 60's and 70's they won all the races. It is always going to be the case that if a team get s an advantage then all of their teams are going to be good.

The owner of the team receives the prize fund money and monies received from the contingency sponsors. The owner (or organization as it were) will pay it's employees and contractors (yes...99% of the drivers are contractors) based on contracts or previously decided arrangements. Furniture Row Racing may give it's pit crew a $25 gift certificate to Joe's Crab Shack for a Top 25 finish, for example. ;)

I don't blame Jeff he is not the one throwing the caution. It was obvious that NASCAR wanted Jeff to win yesterday

the old saying goes: if more than two people know a secret its not a secret its news, do any of you know how much money nascar stands to loose if it got out that nascar was rigging races? the backlash would be huge. and if they wher being rigged wouldnt they rig it for jr? thats the number 1 driver popularity wise, so enough with the whole hendrik/nascar butt buddies thing seriously its getting old

If you put Jr. in Gordon's place yesterday there would be none of the crying, whining, and conspiracy theories said today.
